Amon Headcannon!!!

So we all know Amon has the ability to “take away bending forever” but I have a feeling this is an illusion! There are two parts to this head cannon. But before I start, one thing may help you understand what I am saying completely… Go watch “Sozin’s Comet - Part 4: Avatar Aang” again. Aang learns about energy bending from a lion turtle who transfers his knowledge of energy bending BY energy bending it to Aang.

1)  Aang had his Avatar State previously locked because when Azula struck him with lightning, it locked his 7th Chakra (thought Chakra) it blocked him from using it. But when fighting Ozai, he gets rocketed out of the boulder and he hits the sharp piece of Earth directly on the spot he was hit by lightning unlocking his 7th Chakra and allowing the Avatar State to flow again.

2) When Aang does energy bending on Ozai, he touches his forehead and his chest and they both start glowing. When Amon “takes away bending forever”, he touches his preys foreheads and their back but neither of them start glowing. The placement of his hands and the fact that they don’t glow leads me to believe it is a big illusion. Also, the lion turtle tells Aang that long about people did energy bending on themselves. If they were to do it on another, it would require an un-bendable spirit or their spirit would be corrupted and destroyed. Amon doesn’t appear to be risking anything to take away his preys’ bending.

Where these two connect is the placement of Amon’s hand. We all know that there are chi blockers who can suspend bending for short periods of time, but I believe Amon is a Chakra blocker and can lock up bending until the Chakra is unlocked again. Where did he learn about it? I don’t know…. These are just my thoughts on a question that has been going on in all of our heads.

UPDATE: I have no idea how relevant this idea is, but it sounded good to me when I posted it. For all I know, it could be spot on, or completely wrong. The picture of Amon taking Tahno’s bending looks like he is attacking from the front so I really have no clue….. Chakra blocking is the most logical thing I can think of from watching Sozin’s Comet and from the episode with the guru teaching Aang about unlocking the Chakras.

UPDATE #2: The fact that Amon’s name comes from the second deadliest pressure point on the human body further supports my idea.

Side note, avatar wiki suggests that since all of the bending elements spawned from something other than humans and is imitated (dragons, badgermoles, flying bison and the moon) that the lion turtles may be the original energy benders. I found this to be very interesting and very probable.

These are my thoughts and you gotta deal with it!

For far too long we’ve sat here, singing the same sad song and moving along like we dont know how to be without them telling us, that includes you and me, that we are no better than the ground below their feet and that there is a line that should never be crossed, that we have lost and they have won, that they own every thing under this unbearable red hot sun. We lived happily on a farm away from those that would cause us harm but harm found its way to our little hut, took all we owned and we didn’t own much, leaving nothing but the cloths on our backs until it came back and asked for more but this struck my father at his core so he stood against this monster shouting enough was enough only it wasn’t enough to subdue the fire and as the heat grew higher and higher all I could do was cry her name, my mother, watching as she was engulfed in flames and my father lying flat on the ground lifeless and as I tried to rise up he stood above me, laughing as it all turned to ash. Struck me, forcing me to wear this mask but not this mask of clay and color, but this permanent mask of scars and I shutter at the thought of living a life where  living is wrong and destruction is right and the right of being is just a dream we keep on seeing within our dreams for a better tomorrow.
